The definition states that it is typically recognized by law which brings up the question that aren’t church and state supposed to be separated if so then why is gay marriage illegal in many parts of the world? I’ll tell you why because many other countries don’t separate Church and State. That will be the first step to fixing the first problem and this whole social justice issue in the first place. The next problem is that people use Procreation as a reason to be against gays getting married since homosexuals can’t procreate on their own. These people believe they shouldn’t be married. Many heterosexual couples that do procreate and have kids that turn out to be gay end up kicking those kids out. Even before birth, parents specifically pick out clothes that correspond to their babys assigned gender. Rooms are painted accordingly and even before being out of the womb, the child is restricted to adhering to the norms. Since these stereotypes continually follow us from childhood to adolescence, they feel natural. As a cisgender young woman, I take a lot of pride in my appearance. Since a very early age, I watched as my mother applied her makeup daily, while appearing flawless and making it seem so effortless. When I reached adolescence, it was somewhat expected of me that I applied small amounts of makeup to cover blemishes and mascara to give off the doe eyed look. Presently, I wear makeup at least 5 times a week. I only ever skip this step in my routine if I am not leaving my dorm room all day, or I ran out of time in the morning. I will admit that I can get my feelings easily hurt. I have moments where I feel tears well up in my eyes if I feel that someone corrects me in a harsh tone. I am not ashamed to admit that shopping is my favorite form of pastime, and I am a sucker for romantic comedies. So yes, I am emotional, my physical appearance is important to me, and I am sensitive. These are stereotypes that I specifically adhere to. When we see how these stereotypes intertwine with our race, class, and gender, we are then talking about our intersectionality. As discussed in lecture, intersectionality is the overlapping of our social identities (Crenshaw 2016). It is where our race, class, and gender inequalities interconnect. (Hernandez, Intersectionality Lecture). As a Mexican-American young woman, I have had my female gender placed upon me since I was born. At just two months old, I had my ears pierced. This is normal throughout Hispanic culture. I believe a reasoning for this is because it is a patriarchal culture, families want their daughters to appear feminine as early as possible (Blanc 2017). My Hispanic culture has very clear and distinct gender roles. Men are the heads of the households and breadwinners. Women are responsible for cleaning, cooking, and taking care of the children. I, by no means, follow these gender stereotypes. I consider myself ambitious, independent, and tough. While I can be emotional and sensitive, I can hold my ground and defend myself when necessary. I use negative life experiences to motivate me rather than play the helpless girl in need of a hero. The thought of being a housewife is mortifying to me, that is why I pursued a higher education, so I can financially support myself. While I love keeping up my appearance, I am athletic. I enjoy the outdoors and going to the gym. I do not expect my boyfriend to always pay for a me, I thoroughly enjoy treating him to a nice dinner. I find myself being the more demanding partner in our relationship. In fact, most of our friends would say that I wear the pants. These gender stereotypes I do not adhere to give people the wrong impression of me. The problem with gender stereotypes is: they are harmful to an individual but, more significantly, are they harmful to society. They reinforce patriarchy which creates an unconscious bias of men over women (Hernandez, Sex, Gender, Sexuality Lecture). This in turn leads to sexism and systemic oppression towards females. Placing people into specific boxes of male or female is harmful for the expression of peoples gender identities. A gender identity is a persons internal, deeply held sense of their gender (Hernandez 2018). When people, including myself, break the gender stereotypes we are attached to, we face a level of scrutiny. In childhood and adolescence, those who do not follow the norms can be picked on or teased. In an interview about stereotype threats with Dr. Claude Steele, Dean for the School of Education at Stanford University, he explains the consequences of being stereotyped. He states that, when a person is trying to perform in an area where their particular group is neg atively stereotyped, they will feel a distracting type of pressure (Steele 2013). This will result in underperformance. Combating gender stereotypes should be a priority, because they are harmful. In order to combat gender stereotypes, we must first acknowledge the problem. Recognize gender stereotypes when individuals find them hard to see. Acknowledge that privilege is invisible to those that have it (Kimmel 2015). By speaking up you are challenging the norms.

The condition is described by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-V, as an alcohol use disorder (AUD), a type of substance abuse disorder, which encompasses both alcohol abuse and dependence. More specifically AUD is defined as, â€Å"medical conditions that doctors can diagnose when a patient’s drinking causes distress or harm (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, 2007).† When the reliance or use of alcohol interferes with daily functioning, or causes greater harm to the one’s self, it can then be looked at as a disorder. It is not conscious; it is far quicker, much more sure, less fallible, than consciousness. One cannot explain it56. On the battlefield of any war, past or present one would think any soldier had felt that sense of survival at one point or another. This could be named impulse acted on by fear, nervousness, or as the quote defined it, instinct in violence. The very descriptive violence in the book is one of the large clues that tell us Erich Maria Remarque, the author, is telling us some of the events he had to go through when he served in the war. Other wise it would have been another boring war novel of which classes could be spared the time. These points in the novel All Quiet on the Western Front, can be greatly explained and identified. When confronted with his survival, this instinct can drive a man to do anything for survival, even turn his senses and behavior into a wilder state of human evolution. One of the strongest themes in the book is that war makes man inhuman when confronted by violence and, or in war. From the authors point of view soldiers were often compared to various non-living objects, that were inhuman. The soldiers are often compared to coins of different provinces that are melted down, and now they bear the same stamp. 236 Remarque thinks that the soldiers mind-state has been changed from when they were schoolboys, the stamp being the mark of the soldier, changing them forever. Also soldiers are compared with automatons or more commonly referred to as robots. In reminder of all soldiers of either side had to go through and witness without the traumatizing violence and gore one would not have much understood this point. To a country or at least in charge, the soldiers are no more than this: inanimate devices of war or pawns. Remarque uses this analogy to give the impression that the soldiers are enduring the same feeling over and over again, as if they were inhuman. In this classic war story Remarque also describes the soldiers as inhuman wild beasts in addition to the non-living objects. Paul states that when soldiers reach the zone where the front begins they are transformed into instant human animals56 Remarque explains the zone is like a magical line; once crossed the soldiers are not the same persons as they were in a safe distance. Experiencing violence on the front trapped in a crater of a shell, though protected by it, Paul Baumer feels such desperation. My eyes burn with staring into the dark. In high schools, the utilization of math technology is important as it improves the skills of the students. It's because of this utilization; the teachers can separate the high math students from the weaker ones. In most of the situations, the students in high school math classes feel that math is too hard for them(Gould, Marshall, Scheppler, Palmisano, 2003). The main thing is that the concept of high school math is beyond them. For example, high school mathematics is one of the subjects where students find hard to understand. Due to this feelings, negative perceptions are born in them, and these perceptions lead to negative attitudes. Consequently, it impacts the performance of the students. It is important for the teachers to help them in every possible way to maximiz e their achievements. A regular self-assessment of the students is very useful in improving the outcomes of the student(Morrow, Gambrell, Pressley, 2003). The students can use formative assessment which will help them to learn and provide them potential in order to improve their outcomes in assessment. Self-assessment is another tool which is used to improve the student outcomes. Participants The research shows that a class test of thirty year eight grade Mathematics students, twenty young boys as well as ten young girls from a specific secondary school in Sydney's South West area, was utilized.
